I write about woodworkers because I think, at their best, they help to simplify and beautify this world that we make for ourselves.
Woodworkers know that details matter – the shape of a table’s edge, the texture of a headboard, the angle of an armrest. How does it catch the light? How does it feel under the hand?
These things matter because woodworkers make things that last and lend shape to our days – a place to take our meals together, a place to lay our heads or to store our prized possessions. Why leave these things to mass production?
No. Let the things around us mirror our souls and reflect the love we have for our shared lives. Woodworkers know this.
